Artist-Led Execution Partners — Kerala, India
Award-winning short films, theatre documentation, documentaries, podcasts & research-driven media. We execute your vision from A to Z — as creative partners, not just a crew.
Who We Are
"We are artist-led execution partners — co-creating the visual language of the arts, from the very first idea to the final frame."
Motionara is where artistic vision meets expert execution. We are a collective of award-winning filmmakers, documentary makers, and cultural researchers who believe that the visual language of the arts deserves the same craft and ambition as the work itself.
We partner with theatre makers, arts researchers, heritage institutions, and independent artists as full execution partners — joining the process from concept development through production, post, and distribution. We don't arrive on the shoot day. We are there from the beginning.
Our work spans award-winning short films, feature and short documentaries, theatre and performance documentation, podcast series, ethnographic films, and research-driven media for institutional and grant-funded arts projects.
We bring deep roots in Kerala's extraordinary performance traditions — Kutiyattam, Theyyam, classical music, contemporary experimental theatre — and the cultural fluency to document them with genuine understanding, not surface observation.
When the camera rolls, every frame carries the weight of real creative partnership.
What We Make
From award-winning short films to feature documentaries, theatre documentation to podcast series — we produce across the full spectrum of arts and research media. The format changes. The commitment to craft never does.
Award-winning narrative and artistic short films that have reached festival screens and international audiences. We develop visual stories from concept and script through production and post — as creators and execution partners, not just cameras.
🏆 Award-Winning CategoryFeature and short documentary films — ethnographic, research-driven, community-rooted, and heritage-focused. We have made documentaries about rhythm and oral tradition in Kerala, urban memory, eco-arts, and cultural practices that mainstream media overlooks.
We are execution partners for theatre and performance makers who need their live work captured cinematically. We don't perform the theatre — we partner with those who do, providing A-to-Z production support so the work lives beyond the stage.
Full-service podcast production — from concept, scripting, and recording through sound design, editing, and distribution. We create audio series for arts organisations, heritage bodies, and research projects that give voice to artists and communities.
Multi-format content packages for academic residencies, arts research grants, and institutional cultural projects. We understand the deliverable requirements of Fulbright, national arts grants, and international cultural exchange programmes — and we execute them with cinematic quality.
We document living heritage — traditional performing arts, craft practices, oral histories, and community knowledge — with the cultural depth these traditions deserve. Films that serve as both art and institutional archive.
Our Services
We are execution partners — not vendors. We offer end-to-end production services built around your project's creative needs, from the earliest concept conversations right through to final delivery and distribution.
Why Motionara
We are not a crew you hire for a shoot day. We are creative partners who embed in your project from the earliest conversations — developing the vision, planning the execution, managing production, and delivering the final work. Every step, together.
Our short films have been recognised at national and international festivals. We bring that same standard of creative ambition and technical craft to every commission — short films, documentaries, theatre documentation, or podcast series.
We are from Kerala. We understand Kutiyattam, Theyyam, Carnatic traditions, Malayalam language landscapes, and the living complexity of the state's cultural ecology. We work within these traditions as informed insiders, not observing outsiders.
We deliver across every format your audiences need — festival-ready cinema masters, streaming cuts, accessible versions, podcast audio, social content, educational modules, and archival packages. One creative partnership, every platform.
We understand how arts research is funded, how residencies are structured, and what grant bodies require as deliverables. We have worked alongside Fulbright scholars, national arts institutions, and international cultural exchange programmes — producing work that satisfies funders and moves audiences in equal measure.

Full execution of arts residency documentation — workshop films, webinars, and process films produced and distributed across India and the United States as part of a Fulbright-supported eco-arts initiative.
International DistributionHow We Work
We don't wait for a brief and a deadline. We enter your process early, understand your creative intent, and take ownership of execution — so you can focus on the art.
Our Commitment
Accessibility is not a technical checkbox we apply at the end of a project. It is a creative decision we make at the beginning — integrated into how we plan, shoot, and deliver every piece of work.
We co-executed Kerala's first fully accessible live theatre production in 2023 — with ISL interpretation and audio description designed as part of the production methodology from day one.
This is how we work. Every project, every frame.
Collaborator Voices
Motionara didn't just document our production — they were inside it. From the earliest planning conversations, they understood what we were making and shaped every technical decision around the creative vision. That is rare.
Their fluency with grant documentation and arts residency deliverables was transformative. The films they produced for our Fulbright project have been screened across India and the United States — they gave our research a reach we never imagined.
The documentary they made for us is now in our institutional archive. Scholars and community members come back to it again and again. They filmed our tradition the way it deserves — from within, not from outside.
Let's Begin
We work with theatre makers, filmmakers, researchers, heritage institutions, arts collectives, and communities whose stories deserve to be seen. Tell us about your project — and let's build its visual language together, from A to Z.
